Have You Heard of Girl Talk?

October 27, 2009

Recently, I was fortunate to meet the founder of Girl Talk, Haley Kilpatrick.  I was totally inspired by how Haley’s dream is now helping thousands of girls!  At only the age of 15, in 2002, Haley started Girl Talk.  She believed that if girls’ emotional needs where addressed, they would excel academically.

Girl Talk is a student-to-student mentoring program that pairs middle school girls with high school girls who serve as mentors. Weekly meetings are held before or after school, during which the high school “Leader” conducts valuable lessons that address issues middle school girls face every day.

Today, Girl Talk is one of the fastest growing nonprofit mentoring programs in the country. It has reached more than 30,000 girls in 36 states. Currently, Haley is working hard to ensure that Girl Talk has a Chapter in all 50 states by 2010.

If you want to bring a chapter to your school, visit the Girl Talk website to find out how!
